Ondřej Malý was born on 13 July 1979 in Prague. He graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University, where he studied Journalism and American Studies. Until 2005 he worked in the game development industry, then in a PR agency. From 2007 to 2010 he worked as an editor responsible for IT and telecommunications at Lidové noviny. He then held the same position in the editorial office of Hospodářské noviny. From 2012 to 2017 he was a member of the Council of the Czech Telecommunications Office. In April 2017, he was appointed Coordinator of the Digital Agenda at the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. On 1 February 2018, he became Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Since 2019, he has been an independent analyst and consultant in the field of telecommunications and the digital economy and regularly contributes commentary and analysis to the daily E15.
